Not to Be Outdone, Lets Talk Politics

I have not written in 2 years. I am a huge turd. I have become very busy with other things and have neglected the blog once again. My wife is a blog pro, she is so much better than me at this thing, so I have to make amends.

I have a new job, Daiichi Sankyo Cardiovascular specialist, manager is the next step and I am sure I will blog again in two years telling you about that. The kids, 4 and 2 now. Ok, so far I haven't told you anything you couldn't learn from visiting my wife's site.

If anyone is reading this, it is not to get an update on my life, it is for my riveting outlook and ground breaking opinions, I am sure. So with out further delay. We have a new president now, and I am proud to say I did not vote for him. I have lost all hope in America's voting public. When I hear of the fickle reasons people my age voted for President Elect Obama it makes me sick. "He speaks so well", "we need change", "I am poor so I want free health care", "I wanted to be part of history by voting for the first black president", "I won't have to pay for gas or rent if he is president". Are you serious? What ever happened to voting for someone because they reflect your values and moral integrity? Not because you pick one thing out an extremely vague speech about poverty in America, or latch onto fleeting political promises. How about doing some real homework (not watching CNN or MSNBC or any other liberal media) like reading history books, read the constitution, take a look at some of the policies that got us in the mess we are in in the first place. In a way, you don't need to find anything out about the candidate at first, just learn a little bit about American history and governments role as defined by our founding fathers. Then, once you get a handle on that, start looking into candidates backgrounds, voting records, and platforms. I think if you ask the average Obama voter they couldn't give you 3 platforms or issues he supports. They just use the generic "change" default. I don't care if you have to go to his website to get his stance on issues, as long as you get it.

I know what you are saying now, "oh, typical McCain supporter". Nope, McCain was a dink too, they were both for big government and grandstanding. I voted for Chuck Baldwin. "Who the heck is Chuck Baldwin?" you say. He is the only candidate that stood for the same things that I do. Small government, low taxes, personal responsibility, and the constitution. Chuck didn't make crazy promises of what government was going to do, actually, he talked about what government wouldn't do, that is what impressed me. Lets look at it this way, if you are a hard working, honest, moral person here in America, what do you need the government for? The only thing you would need the government for is to protect you from the criminals and other people trying to take what you have earned away. That is it, no more, no less. If that is all the government actually did (police, roads, libraries, schools) you would only pay about $10 a pay check to the government. You wouldn't need welfare, you wouldn't need gov. health care, you wouldn't need "aid". You wouldn't need the government for anything really. Any problem that can be solved by the government, the private sector can do a much better job at solving . The economy for instance. Yeah the financial bail out is really doing wonders for our economy. Good call on that one Bush, Reid, Frank, and Pelosi. Lets not forget this is our tax money we are talking about. In simple terms, government just took 30% of everything we make and decided on how it should be spent, they felt it was better to turn that money over to the idiots that blew it all in the first place instead of reinvesting in our communities. Basically, that is like a teacher giving the class bully a longer recess because he wasted his on beating up kids for their lunch money.

I really think any one with a good moral compass, humility, and a strong grasp on American history can do a better job in politics than any of these idiots.
I am more than happy to hear anyone's comments on this post. I am actually happy when people disagree with me, it is nice to get all sides. fire away.

Wow! Hi, Im here from your wife's site of course!! I follow her blog and love to see what she is going to post day after day. She seems so much like me and after reading your blog, I am convinced that we are all BFFs and just don't know it, ya know kinda how Elizabeth Hassleback is my BFF, but she doesn't know it.

Anyway, thank you so much for this post. Throughout the entire election period I have felt like like I live in what I like to call "Bazarro World." I live in the South, so this is all too familiar to me. Im unsure how it is where you are, but the mentality here is "I want a check"! Its CRAZY!! I did vote for John McCain because I am of the opinion that of the 2 who were actually able to win, he was the better choice. I am a super conservative, so he was my guy, even though I didnt think he was right for the job.

Here is my quick take for you. I am convinced that Obama will get in here and completely do absolutely nothing that he was promised to all these people who think they are about to get rich because if youve been following you already see that he is backing out of alot of them now! Then everyone will realize what an idiot he is and he will ruin the chances for a Democrat in 2012. That is when my guy will come into play. Our governor here in Louisiana is Bobby Jindal and he is the ABSOLUTE BEST in the political world. He has turned our state around so much just in the little while he has been in office. His acceptance speech when he took office went a little something like this, "Too many people have been eating at the troth for FREE for too long and they have got to go. They can go quietly or they can go loudly, but they will go!!" WOW, huh? How is that for an acceptance speech. His tone has not changed and word on the street is that he will be running for President in 2012. He is a young, fresh, Republican and I believe he is just what our country will hunger for after the next four years of this joke!!

Have a great day!!

I'm another that voted for McCain, just because I didn't want to throw my vote into the wind. Which, yk, I effectively did anyway. LOL

I've decided more than anything else, their health care plans scared me to pieces. Neither of them offered any sort of reasonable alternative for ACTUAL people. They were both so far out of touch that it was unreal.

Anyway - I came over from Kasey's blog. My husband has a blog and posts a little less sporadically than you, but only by a little bit. ;-) You an dhe can be bloggy friends. BBFF. Bloggy BFF's. Isn't that cute? Ha. http://mypontification.com You two would get along. Political nerds.

;-) Have a day. See ya again in two years!

Q--good to see you blogging.

Nathan would love to talk politics with you. He gets all fired up about it as well and I am afraid I don't give him the proper amount of enthusiasm on the subject!

I was at work the night he gave his acceptance speech and one of the people there said "man I wish I could vote for him again!”

I am really of the opinion that most people didn't vote for him because they wanted a real big Government (not that Bush did anything other than that), but that they were angry over the Bush administration and Obama didn't butcher the English language.

Personally, I do not see Obama as a president with a mandate other than not to repeat the Bush approach.

My husband didn't vote for either McCain or Obama either. "How can you choose the better of two evils?" Was his opinion.

Me? There wasn't one candidate that I could agree with either but I never registered to vote.

Okay, you can come yell at me for not registering now!

In all honesty - I was reading your wife's blog and saw the word politics and got all excited... but I genuinely agree with you. The principles of small government and fiscal restraint are why I work in politics and try to make it pay the bills (with all of that money around it's almost embarrassing how hard it is to work in this industry)...

Thanks for pointing out the difficulty in fighting a message of vague promises of "hope", rainbows, and "change"... all could mean just about anything... and for fighting for the libertarian message of a minimal government!

Thanks for the response. it sounds like I am in good company. it blows my mind that there are so many conservatives out there but yet we give into the ultra liberal media, etc. we need to stick together.

Q, just caught up on your blogs since 2004 over the past couple of weeks. Thanks for emailing me the site.

Now to Obama or Robin Hood as I like to call him. I agree didn't like either candidate but I still went out and voted McCain. I am a huge fan of Rudy G. but he has done some things in the past that ruined his chances.

I am sick of people expecting to be taken care of by the Govt. McDonald's is always hiring and though it is not a "sexy" job it is a job.

I was listening to one of my favorite Atlanta Rap stations the other day and they really shed a light on the subject and I hope people got it "Yes there will be change with a Black President, but you need to go out and make a change yourself and make an impact. Don't sit around and expect to be taken care of."

Well said dan. So far there hasn't been any real change. They are still doing the same irresponsible spending that bush did. If anything, I hope Obama does bring hope to the black community, confidence maybe.
